Fraunhofer Cluster of Excelllence Immune-Mediated Diseases CIMD

Fraunhofer Institute for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology ITMP | Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD | Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS

The primary goal of the Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence for Immune-Mediated Diseases CIMD is the translation of innovative ideas and identified targets into individualized therapies for immune-mediated diseases. In the medium term, the collaborating institutes want to bridge the existing gap from research on novel medications to what is actually available to patients. Fraunhofer CIMD is represented in HIPPOCRATES by three institutes of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft: The Fraunhofer Institute for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology ITMP investigates and develops innovative ways of early detection, diagnosis and treatment of diseases resulting from impaired function of the immune system. It comprises three research areas “Drug Discovery”, “Preclinical Research” and “Clinical Research”. Fraunhofer ITMP is a competent partner for universities, for translating medical research findings into valuable assets, as well as for the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industry. It works in close collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and System IAIS, which is one of the leading scientific institutes in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Big Data in Europe, as well as the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD, which is the international leading research institution for applied visual computing: image- and model-based information technology that combines computer graphics and computer vision.

Role within HIPPOCRATES

Within the HIPPOCRATES project, Fraunhofer CIMD will lead and coordinate work package 1, which is focused on building up an algorithm for early diagnosis of PsA used by dermatologists, rheumatologist and general practitioners, as well as work package 5, which will integrate the analysis of all work packages by artificial intelligence algorithms and Data Science.
